Views from where we live
02/01/11 at 04:45:27

I thought it a worthwhile topic, for each of us to post a few pics taken from webcams frmo where we live, or relatively nearby.

I'll start off with Rome

http://www.webcams.travel/webcam/1230041276-Weather-Vatican-City-State%2C-St....

This one below is from the "Castelli", actually a set of spent volcanoes which evolved in rich, fertile hills where Princes and Cardinals built their villas.

The funny looking "cubic Coliseum" is actually a museum built ni the late '30s by Mussolini, the cupola in the back is a church (no, it's not the Vatican)

OK, so who's next ?  Smiley

Im from Michigan City, Indiana. Located on the southern tip of Lake Michigan and about 15 minutes from the Michigan boarder. Dont really have many photos of the city but plenty of the beach!! Grin With a huge snow storm comming down on the area tonight I cant wait until the beach looks like this again!!

Sunsets around here tend to be quite spectactular!

I live right on the N.H./Maine border. This is a picture of the Nubble light house in York, Me. about 20-25 minutes ride. It's on a small island. You can see the utility pole in the left of the picture. There used to be a basket that rides along a cable that the kids used to have to ride across every morning to go to school. I think it's one of the most photographed lighthouses in the U.S.
Also, about an hour ride from me are the White Mountains. Lots of great scenery and some history. Here's a picture of the Mt. Washington Hotel. In 1944, The Mount Washington hosted the Bretton Woods International Monetary Conference. Delegates from 44 nations convened, establishing the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, setting the gold standard at $35.00 an ounce and designating the United States dollar as the backbone of international exchange. The signing of the formal documents took place in the Gold Room, located off the Hotel Lobby and now preserved as an historic site.
The Hotel has been host to countless celebrities, including Thomas Edison, Babe Ruth and three U.S. Presidents
The Mount Washington Hotel opened for its "First Winter" season ever, beginning Thanksgiving Day, 1999!

Some beautiful pics so far!  Hard for me to decide what to post, but here are a few.

Charleston weathercam:

Our beautiful Capitol Building  (hubby's C90 at the foot of the steps)

And here are some random ones from my city, St. Albans

This tunnel is about a mile from my house, drive through it every day.  Built circa 1900  (re-faced and supported openings a couple of years ago)

And here's a panarama of Charleston.  (full size image here - http://www.mywvhome.com/panorama.htm  This guy has some truly awesome photos)

Well, at least these have some in the background:

Ferry across the Mississippi River:

Marina on the Mississippi:

Historic St. Charles Missouri:

World's Fair Pavillion in Forest Park, St. Louis:

What!!?? Shocked I care dude! I'd love to be able to visit your beautiful part of the continent! Drove across the Canadian praries back in '82 and I was gobsmacked by the stark beauty of the wide-open spaces ... I'm sure Nebraska is just as lovely!
Besides, one of my favourite singer/songwriters, Matthew Sweet, is from Lincoln, NE

Okay, I can't sing, but that's what these are, two wildly different times:

Savage_Amusement, I grew up in western Nebraska, as soon as I can figure out where I put my pics on the computer, I'll throw some of them up too. Cool
