Maiden Voyage!

Well I got my kickstand indicator bypassed with a paperclip (thanks all), and got my project Savage rolling sans front brakes, tail-light, turn signals and seat.

It's great to see it firing up and rolling down the street. This was a long time coming. New piston, new used cylinder head, cylinder bore, Mods to date: Dyna exhaust, cone air filter, in-line fuel filter , raptor petcock, body and paint work.

It looks like I need to go back to the drawing board with the carb jetting. I seem to have little to no throttle response on full throttle. It almost seems as though I might have just clogged a jet. I had replaced the main jet with a size 152.5. I don't recall having this lack of throttle response prior to getting it rolling. In fact I had a problem keeping an idle. This seemed to work its way out after replacing the fuel lines and petcock and further adjusting the fuel mixture screw.

Anyways, I'm getting there and having a lot of fun with this project. Thanks again for all the help. Smiley

No throttle response meaning you twist and no go?

check for a sticking slide or put some seafoam in the tank.
finger prints on the slide do terrible things.

No response from about 3/4 to full throttle.

Could you explain how I would check for a sticking slide? Carbs are not my thing.

I will also give the Seafoam a shot.  thanks

Standard checks.....

First put the petcock in PRI (prime) and try again.  This is to see if there is an issue with the petcock and it not getting enough gas.    Next, check your spark plug color.    Super white ceramic mean too lean. Black'ish ceramic means to much fuel.

3/4 thru to WOT (wide open throttle) is the main jet  ....

I added an in-line fuel filter. I'm wondering if this could be the issue. Thanks, I'll check this also.

When my slide stuck on me, it stuck near the bottom.
I'd give it a twist and it would get up past idle, then nothing.
Till it popped loose then whoa nellie, you had to hang on for dear life.

The main jet feeds the needle jet.  So saying it's clogged and only affects the top end would mean that a small piece of dirt is in there and only partially blocking the jet.

Now it is possible the fuel filter you added is restricting flow, try w/o.
