We are interested in selling our 1997 LS650P Savage. We have no idea what to ask for it. We bought the bike used in 2003 for $2500.00 and it only had 2,800 miles on it. I can't post pictures so I will have to be as descriptive as possible. It has the factory metallic red paint with the original decals clear coated over. No rust. No scratches. One small dent on the gas tank. The bike is stored in the garage so nothing is faded, it is still shiny. The exhaust pipe has some discoloration, but not the heavy blue color that some have because they left it at idle too long with full choke. Has the original complete tool kit and owners manual. I bought the bike for my GF to learn how to ride, as a beginner she never rode it in the rain, but she has dropped it twice, nothing is broken, every thing works. No modifications to the engine. We added a National Cycle Plexifairing 3 windshield four years ago, OEM saddlebag bars, and Willie and Max small saddle bags. I do all of the maintenance my self (part of the reason I love this bike). At any rate, we got new BMW F650GS's in 2006 and do long distance touring and the Savage mostly sits in the corner, rode to the Post Office and the ice cream stand about once a week. When my brother comes up from Texas he rides it to get him around town. My step mother has offered a $1,000.00 for it. I don't want to sell it to her. I think it is worth more than a "Grand" and I'm afraid she will wreck it and damage the bike (she may even hurt herself), plus, she can only store it outside. Here it is:
-8,652 miles. -Metzler 880 front and rear tires and new tubes with 500 miles on them -front brake pads with 500 miles -new brake fluid, bled system 500 miles ago -Bike Master (Chinese) battery with 500 miles -NGK spark plug with 500 miles -OEM air filter with 500 miles -oil and filter change in November of 2010 -cleaned gas tank fuel filter and cleaned gas tank. (the filter was not that bad, I expected worse) -all adjustments by the book; clutch cable, rear brake cable, decom- pression cable, throttle cable, valves, and drive belt -total safety check, side stand kill, horn, lights, brake light front and rear, headlight dimmer, and the big red kill switch.
Regards, Jim.
