I always wanted to put a pair of these on mine, but got a Boulevard before I did.

I did use this set of adapters
http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/3879/Non-Pivoting-Splined-Male-Mount-Adapters They do not have an adapter designed for the Savage, but I was able to create a little spacer block to use behind it( a rectangle of steel about 1/4"x1/4"x1" wit a couple shallow holes drilled to position the set screws). I put on a set of wide HD pegs that felt better.
I then went ahead and bought a set of the floorboards( I got them from Dennis Kirk, so they were a bit less than shown on the Kury site) and put them on my Son's 750 Shadow, using the same adapters. The 5 different mount positions plus the splined mount gives you a pretty wide range of positioning so there is a good chance to get something that feels right for you.
In the case of the Savage, I had to use a Dremmel and ream out the inside diameter of the adapter to fit the screw/pin in the Savage mount.
In the case of the Shadow, I had to grind down the sides of the adapters a little, so they soule fit the Shadow mounts.
In both cases I made the changes to the $20 mounts, rather than start changeing the bike.
