No tool box no belt tool
01/14/11 at 20:47:48

I bought my bike with no tool box panel and no suzuki tools that comes with the bike from the factory. I could sure do with one to complete the bike.          Now i have a slight problem . I took the wheel off for a good proper cleaning, put the wheel back and realigned it to both equal marks either side, spun the wheel and the belt runs true centre in both drive pulleys ????? what tension should i have on the belt because i have no tool to check this.  Undecided

The toolbox belt adjusting tool is virtually useless... it adjusts way too tight...
Common method is to adjust 'till you can just twist the belt, in the midpoint, to 90 degrees...
... or about 1" of up/down flex...
It can't really be too loose, unless it's jumping cogs,... too tight will cause a lot of chirping, and could even be damaged at full shock compression...
In other words,... a little too loose is better than too tight...

Oh yeah,... like Justin said,... if you just use Klotz oil,... you never need to adjust anything... and your tires won't ever wear out either...
Grin Grin Grin...

Psst...Justin?,...do you still own those shares in Klotz oil?  I still have mine... but, so far I've only made $1.42 from them in three years...
I guess Bill is still their only customer...

Ha! Youre still holding that? I sold all both of my shares & made less than a buck. Used that help pay for the Rotella. I buy gallons & stash them in the shop. The savings is better than the $$$ would earn if it was in the bank.

Hey Serobot....you mentioned chirping of the belt if its too  tight. Mine will make that noise when I release the throttle and shift up or make a quick downshift. Thought it was not tracking properly but maybe its too tight?  Huh  Makes sense. I will check the tension by your instructions.

Thanks.
