Anybody notice how hard it is when you come back from the Dragon to ride at a normal city speed limit pace?

Neighborhood street turns that you do every day want to become "corner cut sweepers" and you start sizing up cars for passing just as soon as you come up on them?

How your bike wants to be cut loose to RUN, now that it knows what running really is?   How it wants to goes into Dragon mode when nobody else is around and the road suddenly gets curvy?

Jest how long does it take for you to return to normal --- and is that normal state exactly like it used to be (or is it slightly different now)?

Cheesy

We exist in the mode; it's just a matter of opportunity.  Cool

Lancer, good luck with your hernia operation.  And stop straining so much on the pot! Grin

And I'm up for at least a day ride (maybe an overnight) if some folks come up to the Boone area, which is just an hour from where I live in Hickory.

Serenity, you have ridden up around the ski lodges before (ya musta have, it is in your neighborhood after all).

Is it worth the ride?    Googling the roads from satellite view they seem sorta "fully developed" if you know what I mean.   Kinda like somebody's ritzy residential area if you get what I mean.

Give us the scoop, poop       Grin

"Around the ski lodges" themselves, it IS very developed.  But there are other opportunities for rides.  The Blue Ridge Parkway is easy access from Blowing Rock, just south of Boone.  Grandfather Mountain is a nice ride (for a fee).  And I know a little place called Table Rock Mountain, gravel roads part of the way, 30 - 45 minute hike to the summit, but worth the trip to see the scenery from the top.  Let me think about some others......

I am seriously interested but will have to hold until I know how this fits into other requirements.  I'm penciled in for minor surgery to fix a hernia but don't have a hard date yet.

Been there ,done that, piece of cake. Just don't lift anything heavier than ten pounds for as long as your doctor tells you (I think my restriction was until I got the staples out.) I missed two days of work, the Thursday of the surgery, and the Friday.

In the initial meeting with the nurse she said is was a pretty quick and easy fix, outpatient type so go home the same day, with about 6 weeks of being careful after that.
I just need a date now so I can figure what I can do when.

A short note from Brad of Deals Gap Resort

We are sad to report that the resort mascot Brady has passed away in her sleep last night. Yesterday she had a great day of playing in the creek, her favorite past time, and peacefully went in her sleep. This season she was living with Tommy at his doggy retirement farm for fear she would be hit by a bike. Our many gratitudes to Tommy and his wife Marry for the wonderful love and care of Brady. Feel free to post up your hotdog begging stories as we say our final farewell to Brady, we will miss you.

This was my first year at the Dragon resort.... I didn't see Brady.

I would have thought they would of had a pet Dragon.

yeah she was in the doggy retirement home when we were there. I noticed her absence. Unfortunately oldfeller prolly killed her with all the bacon grease he fed her a couple years ago. Poor doggy was way overweight and the guests would always feed her.

Durn, I killed MM's Sporster, I killed Dave's brand new white bike, I killed my own rear tire, I killed umpteen hurleys and wings and other things, now you accuse me of killing the dog?

Wow, I cooked the three pounds of bacon and saved the grease in the big pan in case anybody wanted a fried egg instead of scrambled.   I did burn that big pan of toast.

But it was MM that poured all the bacon grease on the two plate fulls of burnt toast and gave each of the two freeloading dogs their own personal sopping heaping plate full of doggie bacon heaven.

If we had used that bacon grease in my crankcase instead of feeding it to the dog......maybe they both would still be alive! Grin

In about 3 weeks I expect that my bike will be rising from the ashes like a Pheonix.  The puller for the alternator rotor should be here on Friday, and by Monday I should be ordering parts.

Yeeeea   but  she died  HAPPY.    Thats all any of us can hope for !

Ya'll know how it goes :

Harleys are born to die
G Wings are born to die
Dogs are born to die
We are born to die
Savages are born to RUN !

Dave did ya find out what the noise was ?

After see how well the GPS thing on the handlebars worked , I put one on mine !

OldFeller your going to like this :

My Maggy has a built in "Black Line" feacture.
Least use of Intestates ,
Least use of Hwys,
Shortest Route.
And if that wasn't enough !!!
There is a way  to "Esclude" part of the Route if it doin't suite ya !

But when you Butt gets tired there is also a  "Fastest Route" option.

The Shortest Route option has show me roads in my own neighborhood I didn't know of.    Like it so much ; I even bought another one for the  car !

MMRanch........

Most Savages are born to run......mine is having to be "reborn".

I got my bike mostly pulled apart last weekend...the rest of the engine will be this weekend.  The puller for the alternator just arrived this morning and I can split the cases now.  I believe the left crank bearing is loose for some reason. If I pull on the end of the crank on that side I can get a clunking noise. Shocked

Dave, here is Suzuki's pissed off customer hot line

You are gonna need it .....

So ... those of you with leaky gas caps might want to contact Suzuki directly. I did have an extended warranty on my bike but you never know, they might just replace your tank & cap for free too. BTW, when I had to sign the warranty paperwork, I saw the price of the gas tank - $544 !!!! Holy moley - I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it!!!

Here's the website: http://www.suzukicycles.com/

From the website: "Should you have a situation that you believe requires American Suzuki's immediate assistance you may call Customer Service at 714-572-1490. Customer service representatives are available from 8:30AM to 5 PM PST."  and I spoke to Cecil. BTW, DON'T tell him I sent you - LOL!!

Well Lancer

I found out why the carb. screw did not  kill the  engine ....

The fuel level was way too high !

After the adjustment the S-40 is getting almost 60 mpg now.  It feels like it running to lean.    So I'll be going up a size in the primary jet ... but the mpg may stay up there anyway. ?

Anyway thanks for looking at it.

Dave how you comming along ?   or is that another post ?
