3 weeks out -- time to do your pre-trip oil change and check your tire air pressure again to make sure your tires are holding on to that air good.

Check / adjust your belt .....

Tighten your axle nut and your adustment nuts, your main motor mounting long bolts, etc.

Make sure you have a carry quart of the oil you use to pack in your saddle bags.

Get a large aluminium water bottle to carry on your bike for an emergency gas supply. If everybody carries a quart of spare gas we can keep the least gas efficient person running to the gas station when he goes all dead on us.  Some of our big loops (like the Skyway and the Mt. Mitchell loop) are over 90 miles with no gas stations and we do have folks needing to use the little bottles from time to time.

So far, no RYCAs are coming this year, but if they did they would require the emergency sips on many of the normal loop routes we take.

I did my oil change on wednesday. Bike's ready to go unless I decide to change the front brake pads. Putting things together for the trip down (tent, cooler, camping gear, beer, beer, beer). I think I'm forgetting something...oh yea, beer.

OLDFELLER

Due to changing fortunes and circumstances, it is highly unlikely that I will be able to attend.

Even though still possible, not nearly enough so to be included in you plans and calculations.

If I do make it, I will fend for myself in the "a place to sleep" category but happily contribute to the other festivities.

If not.. maybe next year.

I thanks you all for your efforts, and I apologize for an inconvenience.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

I have  found a 05 with 10k miles for 18Hundred but doin't want that many miles on one.   I'm thinking ,  get a stock one and keep it stock and if more HP and room (carrying the wife and her lugage) is need get a Triump Speedmaster or America 865 as a second bike.

I'm waiting to hear back from a guy with a 2005 <4kmiles for  21Hundred   (This afternoon/evening)

if that one doin't pan out

#3 choice is an 09 modle with <4k miles for 35Hundred.
#4 new 2011 for 4495.oo

Lotsa good options.  I'd get the 2011 and dress it up with "25th Anniversary Edition" stickers! Wink

I'm lookin forward to the trip.  How many Mikes are gonna be there this year?  Five out of 7 of us were Mikes last year!

Way to go!!  I'm sure you'll be happy with it.  Can't wait to see it!

BTW, To any of the guys who are trailering or otherwise NOT biking to get to the gathering, Can anybody find a decent guitar to bring with you?  I CAN lug my guitar, but it's bulky.  Just might be fun to have one to strum around the campfire in the evenings.
