This thread is 43 pages long! Is there an executive summary somewhere?
I just want to know what your basic ride plans are.

Buck, we threw away the previous 117 pages of thread and we limit it to the year before and the year current as it gets too unwieldy otherwise.

June 25th -- June 29th

Base camp is at Dragon Lodge at Tail of the Dragon, we ride every there in NC and Tennessee (hundreds and hundreds of miles a day) including little bitty black lines that go up to the tops of tall mountains down to Dollywood and Gatlinburg areas for the knife shops, etc.

We sometimes even go to Nowhere, but that particular dark somber trip is prone to having squirrels & chipmunks trying to attack MMRanch's tires to stop us from achieving the Tunnel of Nothingness.   So far, we haven't ever gone on through the tunnel, but that might change after this year.

AlfromNH, have you ever been to Americade or Laconia bike weeks? They seem like a hoot and perfect locations for June.

Well Buck

I'll get there Tuesday  or Wensday and stay the week.    I.ve had the thought  "What if everybody brings a day plan, ride"? ...  Seven folks show up we have a entire week full of riding.

I want to do the SkyWay at least once ,

and do one of the parkway loops at least once.

OldFeller took us on the road to "NoWhere" last year (Really the name of it)  ...

We took one little ride last year with out looking at the map and ended-up back at the place we had breakfast in time for lunch !

Kinda like eating at the "OutBack" ,  "No Worries , Just Right" , to my way of thinking.

I usually ride up to Laconia at least once each year during bikeweek. The problem is that it seems to rain during bikeweek every year. Not a big deal for me as I'm only about 20 miles from there. Never been to Americade but it looks like a good time. I usually use the week of laconia as a final test run before I load the bike to head to Deals Gap. The weekend following bikeweek is usually the Blessing of the bikes in Colebrook NH. Thats always a good camping weekend with a really good amount of bikes showing up. Heres a picture of the bikes getting ready to be blessed.

Buck,

We make plans on when we are gonna show up and then we go riding every day.

Lancer has a 6 man room at the Dragon Lodge starting Monday June 25th running through Friday June 29th.

Last year MM and I ran EVERY road worth riding in NC and Tennessee all inside a 3 day span of time -- but it was body harsh and gruelling to do it that fast & hard so we will likely slow down and ride every road worth riding and a whole lot of little black lines in between just taking an extra day or two to do it.

We will likely hit every motorcycle museum, knife outlet, etc that exists between Tennessee and the NC main cities of Ashboro and Boone.

We roam like a herd of wolves, looking fer some big fat slow Hurleys to devour .....

ROLL CALL

We got a one weekday span of time lined out and reserved at the Dragon Lodge, starting Monday June 25th through Friday June 29th.

We already heard that MMRanch is likely to show up in the Wednesday time frame.

Who else is gonna show up and WHEN are you planning on landing at the Lodge?

Real reason for this roll call is it it time for me to turn in my vacation forms and we are a little vague right now on the arrival dates.

So Lancer has the big room until friday morning? Did anyone make arraingments for the rest of us for friday and saturday nights? Should I call to see whats still available? Just curious. I can always set up a tent but would rather have an air conditioned room.

Earlier, we tried to get consensus on when folks were coming in -- Lancer reserved according to that consensus.

We are polling now to see what the "closer in to reality" consensus is.   I need to reserve my vacation time and I unfortunately know my back and legs are not likely good for 5 solid days of hard riding.

Yes, Al you should reserve some sort of room unless you are going to fall back into tenting.

Lancer could try to shift the room reservation over on Friday, but I think he is intending to come in on Monday and leave on Friday so he reserved the room for what he would be there to be responsible for it.

Al, you could get up with Lancer, you may be able to contact the Dragon Lodge and take over the room for the next 2 days if you can get him to contact them as well (and you guys can work it all out with the Lodge).

Toymaker and I did this several times over our years at the lodge, the Dragon Lodge is helpful but they want somebody's charge card number to stand good for the room as THEY CHARGE YOUR CARD AT LEAST A FULL DAYS RENT FOR NOT SHOWING UP,  AND THEY CHARGE IT FOR DAMAGE TO THE ROOM AND FOR MISSING TOWELS, ETC.

All of the mountain bike places are like that, the camp cabin we got last year wanted a physical check for one day's rent to arrive a month in advance that they flat told you they would cash it now and keep the money irregardless -- it was their way to sort out all the lookieloos.

Or a good way to get them some fun money ....   they live all year off of what they make during the summer you know.

And that way if it rains you out, they still "rent the room".

Okay, should I get a smaller room for friday and saturday nights? I may be able to extend the apartment through the weekend, but will we need that much room? I'll wait to hear from whoever is interested, then I'll call tomorrow to make the reservation.

Hey, Al.  I wasn't forgetting you.  But you ARE coming to the Mid-Atlantic/Blue Ridge Mountains locale - albeit FROM the Northeast!
