We spent time last year stuck behind two bicyclists in spandex who were humping it up close to the speed limit (and backing up traffic for miles, but they didn't care one whit about that).  )

Actually you were stuck behind a car driver who didn't know how to lean on the horn and pass the bicycles.   Roll Eyes

I'm getting old and need to get this off my bucket list.  Might make it this year.

it's only 11 miles, even if you take it very slow you should be done in half an hour ,then you can go home .

I remember it being a Dump Trucks , one right after-the-other.

Also remember Hwy 80 to the gas station, and then the road that turned into a gravel supprize .

That little ride to the BBQ place that ToyMaker stumbled up-on was perty neet.

I doin't care about Touring the Biltmore but we could ride by it this year.

WoW  My throdle hand is itching allready !

Cool

No riding in "Carolina" right now!
Woke up to this......

Guess starting the new Tom Clancy thriller, a cup of hot chocolate and maybe a nap are on the menu today.
Perhaps a vision of the "Dragon" will come in a dream.....

I saw that segment about the wreck on the "When Vacations Strike Back" last night. A miracle they both were not taking a dirt nap after that. Shocked

Yeah, I remember them dump trucks -- big line of them going in both directions on that section as I remember.

But the bicycles stick in my memory as they were actually pretty close to keeping up with the speed limit and they arrogantly road 2 abreast on purpose (stopping any easy passing by the line of cars they had backed up).

   Arrogant tree huggers .........

Yup, parallel bicycles and double Hurleys tend to be what I remember from that particular run, that and a sporty blue Camero driven hard by two teen aged boys.   And the lawnmower tossing grass in my face, and the road that ended suddenly .....   and them 8 durn beautiful 180 degree full switchbacks on that one steep arsed mountain face we went up to get to the top where the pavement suddenly ended (and that narsty little dirt road on the way back down the other side).

That was a good run, you know.   Best ever.

They get better and better !

Yea I rember those bicycles , and how they thought nobody should go faster than they were.  They might have been doing the speed limit, but  I'm usually feel ticket proof at  up to eight or nine mph. over.

I think that brother of mine who went last year wants to go again but wants a bed instead of a tent.  Said it took two weeks to get over two or three  nights on the ground , So I'm in for two beds .    Am I right about the rooms sleeping three ?

Cool
