Savage 'outta' mothballs

Hey Gang...been awhile since I've been here. Went retro-70's for awhile and bought a Honda Chopper which I've been riding for a yr. and half.
Anyway, I mothballed Suzy in the corner and kinda neglected her since that time... Embarrassed. I want to get her back in order over winter and would like to know anything I would need to do ??

Other than flushing out the tank and carb and new battery...would I have to change the oil & filter ?? It only had 2K on the old oil. Would it be OK to fire her like that, or drain and install new the beforehand ?  Bike is an '01 with 5400 miles. Don't want to pump any debris and stuff into a dry top end, so thats why I'm asking. Any tips or suggestions ???

would I have to change the oil & filter

Oil gets crap from burned gas in it & becomes acidic over time, change it, dont run it..

+1...
Condensation too,... definitely change the oil...
... and a little squirt of oil in the plug hole will help re-establish a good compression seal on the rings...

change the oil for sure ,you might want to take the spark plug out and turn the engine over a few dozen times, gets the oil circulating a little ,better than running dry even for a second or two.
