Cam Chain wear length clarification (Read 54 times)

ocdave Ex Member	Cam Chain wear length clarification 12/06/10 at 12:44:38 On some searches here I found that the cam chain wear limit was noted as: Chain Stretch: SSM states the limit for 21 pins center to center is 128.8mm (5.07") My manual I downloaded describes the wear limit with the same measurement but at a distance of "20 pitch length" Is 21 pins center to center the same as 20 pitch length?

If you have the incorrect number of pitches over 5+ inches, the chain will have a gap in it.

Thank you, looks like I am within spec. I'm hoping the tensioner is also. I didn't know to check prior to tearing the top end down.
