@maxmamo,

This is what the DEI looks like in sun and heavy cloud, although I've since put the heat shield back on...

Nice, Titsken.  Crazy how you pulled that off so well with the stock muffler and rear fender.  Great lookin' ride.
But personally, I would hate all the stuff that aggressive front tire would throw back without a mud guard!

Titsken I really like the black painted cover on the motor. I was thinking of engraving mine but now i might just spray over it. Nice theme and good looking bike.

Man, considering how awful the roads are where I live, running knobbys like Titsken's (most excellent) build along with a beefy suspension is almost tempting.

Pretty much finished my latest S40.
Got it about 6 weeks ago. Was dropped pretty hard with the left side scraped and a big bash in the tank.
Was all black but I don't really like black so I changed it up a bit.
I'm sure there will be more changes in the future but this seems like a good starting point..

Hello everyone, I am from Bulgaria and for 3 months I am proud owner of Suzuki Savage LS 650. The photos I have on the bike when we travel around the city I live in. They are me and my girl, driving a motorcycle.
I thank everyone in this forum for the wonderful information and the fact that we all share our love for Suzuki Savage LS 650

On my 13th birthday, in 1962, I bought a '55 Matchless G80CS 500cc single for $300 hard-earned cash (my farmer parents were very indulgent/naive).  I absolutely loved that bike despite its being broken down most of the time.  Over the years I have been fortunate to be able to recreate some of my favorite mechanical memories from my youth - a hotrod '32 Ford roadster and more recently a super rare hemi-powered '57 Dodge convertible to replace the one I traded the Matchless for in 1966 and then sold for $100.  I frequently considered getting another Matchless, but memories of its shortcomings kept me from doing so.  At one point I test-rode a Suzuki S40 but was disappointed in its performance.  Then recently I discovered 2 things - this forum and Rycamotors.com.  I saw what others were doing with these little gems and decided to see if I could sort of clone my old Matchless.
I started by picking up a very nice 5,000 mile 2013 bike for only $2,000.  I then got a few Ryca parts - air filter, handle bars, megaphone, chain conversion kit, Lucas-type taillight, fork boots - and of course the carb jets from Lancer and timing chain adjuster fix from Verslagen.  Then I picked up Italian alloy fenders, and repro Matchless fender stays from England. I hand fabricated lower fork mounts for the front fender stays, the upper front fender mount, rear fender mounts, and most difficult of all, moved the front mounted foot rests and controls to a rear position.  I was actually able to use the left side including the side stand with no change to the shifter linkage.  The right side required a lot of modification to the brake pedal and relocation of the brake light switch.
Future changes may include a Matchless gas tank and seat.  I plan to put "flying M" badging on it just to confuse folks.
I'm curious to see what readers on this site think.  I've tried to include photos but not sure I am doing that right.

One more - lower fork fender brackets, made with hand tools only.

I was asked to describe how I moved the stock footpegs back.  I'll attach a photo of the adapter plates I made.  The odd looking piece bolts between the two side plates, plus has a leg that supports the muffler and relocated brake light switch.  The tubes and angled bracket on the left side bracket space the stock footpeg/sidestand out to clear the motor and are angled slightly forward to make the footpeg look right since the new plates are not actually parallel.  It required notching the aluminum drive sprocket cover and lower chain cover slightly, plus some grinding to the area around the top bolt of the stock footpeg bracket.  On the right side it was really tight getting the footpeg over the exhaust pipe and the brake pedal under it.  I ended up only using the oblong footpeg mounting hole and brake pedal shaft from the stock plate, the rest I fabricated.
