I dumped last week after hitting a raccoon going just under 30 mph.

Wow! that's one fast SOB.   How fast were you going?  Grin  JK.

A little motrin and ice is way better than morphine and plaster.  Glad you are ok.

All textile equipment is that way, one use only.  But in that respect, leather would be all scratched up too, just not all torn up.

There has been a lot of "running into things" here lately.  The other week I was coming up down a neighborhood street and saw some teens playing basketball.  I slowed WAAAAAY down, because they are always slow to get out of the road and you never know when one is going to do something stupid.

Sure enough when I was almost on top of them a 3-year old bouncing a basketball half his height stepped right out in front of me.  Everyone else's reaction was to go, "Hey... hey... hey...." and stand there.

I grab a lot of brake.  Since I was going 20 mph or less the bike slide a little and stopped.  Bike lived, kid lived.

Of course had that been a racoon with a basketball I would have taken hiim OUT!

Sorry you got hurt, hope you feel better soon and the bike is running well.

Glad you're able to type and tell us about it. Change it from "First crash" to "First and LAST crash". Some on here have more than their fair share. Hope you recover soon. Wink

Thanks for all the words of support! After 6 days of rest I ran 3.3 miles (23:50) to make certain everythings was working correctly.

Next step is to get all my parts needed for a proper repair and get riding again!

I just might wait till spring and ride when it is not dark!

welcome to the "been down" side of riding, it's not the slide that's bad, it's the sudden stop at the end that gets ya.

Know what you mean there Sluggo!  I can't believe how hard I hit my friends bike at 10 mph. I' all bruised up inside and the impact has caused me to develop I guess a substantial amount of fluid around my heart and a slightly ruptured spleen.  Pretty dangerous I guess and I might have to have a tube stuck in me and drained after thanksgiving.  I think I would have rather gone flying threw the air instead of being hit with what felt like a pool table.  Seems alot of us have gone down this year. I haven't noticed it as much in the years past.  I hope it was my first and last crash cause they really really hurt!
