You did of course put the same springs back on the same valves, right?

wouldn't that be a moot because he put the valve springs in backwards.

I have been riding it back and forth to work with all the ticking and it seems fine. I'm just going to take the head back off on a snowy day and re work it. The ticking has gone down but still there. Just wont make the same mistake twice.
