Huh

Ohhh.. you meant "THE DIRT ROAD", not "the dirt road"   Grin

This is not a dirt bike, this is not a dirt bike, this is not a dirt bike...
Well, yes it was.. again.  I really hate turning around when I run out of pavement.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

I had a Kawa 750 twin I used to take down some serious dirt roads out in w. texas. Ive sat & waited for cows to amble across the rod several times. I was having problems with wobbling in sand. A friend told me, lean back & accelerate a bit, keep the front tire up on top & it wont "hunt" thru the sand. That worked, but in West Texas, some sand stretches are enough to get a guy to almost 70,, even accelerating gently.

Any street bike can be used as a dirt machine as long as you backtrack so you can pick up all the crap that fell off the bike Huh

I gotta admit that while I don't shun a dirt or gravel road, I have my limits.  Here's where I turned back on the Mosquito Pass Road:

But I did go back with Mrs Doc and the Xterra a few days later!

It does get a bit nippy above 13,000 feet, even in the summer!

Further down, it was warmer and the wind was blocked:

The view was still darned good!

Don't think I've been that high, at least that I could verify, but I noticed when I was camping this summer, there's a big difference between 9500' and 10,000'!  Temp felt like it dropped 10° at least! Shocked

It's in Colorado, between Leadville and Alma.  It's the highest pass with a road over it in the U.S.  There's other roads that are higher, like Pike's Peak or Mt Evans, but they go up a mountain and you have to turn around and go back down.

And it can be done on a motorcycle -- just not mine!

Wow, cool video!  That'd be a blast, but definitely not on my bike. Undecided
I'd think F.I. would be a plus, if you're changing that much elevation.
