Hi all, new here and new to motorcycles. Just bought an 88, should be here Saturday. I've never ridden before except for a friends dirtbike when I was 13(popped the clutch and went straight down a hill abs into traffic, Haha).

I do have a few questions. I plan on bobbing the bike and was wondering how wide of a front tire it will fit. And is there any easy way to shorten the forks and bring the front tire a bit closer to the frame?

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

Don't take this wrong. My tip is meant to bring you into motorcycling. You asked so here it is: slow down a bit on the mods for now and take time to learn about riding and servicing your bike. After you have a feel for the bike then you can think about mods. Quite honestly the stock setup is pretty good with only minor tweaks needed for weight, height or riding style. Suzuki engineers have been at this awhile. Enjoy your new bike and get to know it.

Mod that can be done easily after that is muffler.

The car ive been drivin the last two years is a manual. I know its different, but I think it'll help. I've also been reading and researching non- stop for several weeks. Gonna go get my permit Friday.

I'm just a female, so no offense meant, but I've always liked the rake of this bike... can I ask why you'd want to lessen it? I would think it would mess up the handling, and plenty of things that I wouldn't even think of. Shortening the forks would make the whole bike sit crooked/off-level, wouldn't it?
