Did you know that letting a battery go totally flat three times in three years is a good way to kill it? I knew that. Didn't let it stop me!

An absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery is also should be a deep-cycle battery.  I am testing this, not intendedly.  Last Sunday morning I picked up sweetbreads.  Since early Sunday mornings tend to cause complaints (ms.paladin) I thumbed the kill and coasted the last 100 feet to home.  Forgotted the key.  Flat as roadkill.  Recharge.  Tuesday drove into the garage, again forgot the key.  Will charge it later.  Old technology flood batteries generally die about the third or fourth time flattened.  We will see.....

Maybe so, but,
one time I bought a cheap group 24 starting battery brand new, and deep cycled it for several months on a portable fan made from a radiator cooling fan on a pole and caster wheels. It would run the fan about 5 hrs before slowing down, at which time I would shut it off for the day, and recharge it all nite on a 6 amp charger. I did this for over a month before I could notice any difference in running time before slowing down.
It is true, I didn't completely flatten it, but I took her down perdy good. So while your statement could be correct, it did amaze me how long a starting battery lasted when put into major deep cycle use.
