Quote: Old technology flood batteries generally die about the third or fourth time flattened. We will see..... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Maybe so, but, one time I bought a cheap group 24 starting battery brand new, and deep cycled it for several months on a portable fan made from a radiator cooling fan on a pole and caster wheels. It would run the fan about 5 hrs before slowing down, at which time I would shut it off for the day, and recharge it all nite on a 6 amp charger. I did this for over a month before I could notice any difference in running time before slowing down. It is true, I didn't completely flatten it, but I took her down perdy good. So while your statement could be correct, it did amaze me how long a starting battery lasted when put into major deep cycle use.
