What has been your maximum indicated speed? Note that '>=" means greater than or equal to, and "<" means "less than". Please indicate whether your bike is stock or has carb/exhaust mods. Carb mods include jets and needles and white spacers and air filter/air box, but not idle circuit screw adjustment.

Seen about 90 but I had chain conversion for about 10-12% greater than indicated speed. So I've hit the ton or come really really close with a stock engine that had bad valves. Now
I got the lancer stage 1 cam, Vm38 carb with UFO, the exhaust port opened up a wee bit, and a SE slash cut muffler with stock header. Hitting 60 in about 5 seconds. Dont usually go much over 80. Bike's just too light and twitchy for me to feel comfortable. I've done it a few times just for kicks but its not really necessary. Kind of just asking for a ticket.

I didn't vote, because I have not run mine wide open for long enough to be satisfied it had topped out. It has been to 80, and had a little left, but not much.

I gotta get in on this one. 85 with mods. I think! It's pretty hard to read the speedo where it is and w/ my old eyes. I've got a Magellan GPS and will attach it to the headlight so I can see it while "lying under the paint". The gearing and wallowing seem to be the limiting factor. The engine has more poop but I don't want to go to a chain. The bike is delivering better than expected but.....
Just to add ( it's been about a week ) now since I paid more attention to the speedo. On a pretty flat strip of road 82-83. Haven't tried the GPS yet.

I ride in very dry air at about 1800feet. When the temps are in the 80s-90s I can hit 90-95. At temps above 105 it seems to top out at about 85.

I have not run mine wide open but I'm guessing it will easily do 85 because I've had it to 80 and it was fine, maybe find out soon
It hasn't had any modifications yet.

Downhill it was doing a bit over 90 a couple of days ago but that would take a good backwind and distance on level road. The corner speed makes up for the lack of thrust

Buck,
Interesting poll!
I've never had mine (see signature) wound out, but I'd like to see the results of the poll.
Do you suppose you could add an option something like:
"
I don't know what my top speed is?
"
so weak dicks like me could see the polling results?
TIA!

Here are the interim poll results for those of you who cannot see the results.
After about 6 weeks there are 41 respondents.
85 mph or more
24% stock
10% modified exhaust
34% modified exhaust and carb
75 mph or more
12% stock
less than 75 mph
17% stock
2% modified
So, a large majority (68%) are thrill-seekers, pushing the bike for all it can do. A minority (19%) are more reserved, keeping it under 75 mph indicated (which is likely 70 mph actual).
The numbers suggest that modifications do not make a big difference in top speed, but another poll might confirm this. Numbers also suggest that those who modify are more likely to go for it.
