So I went up in jet size and put a cone filter. Put it back together, starts right up (to my surprise actually

). I test drive it for 30 mins went fine although still backfiring. So I was like "all set!".

Well, this morning I take it to work and the darn thing keeps on wanting to stall, have to give it gas to start ,etc. It runs fine but if I cruise for a little while and have to come to a stop it will try to stall.

Now, I had to drain the fuel because I was faced with a leaky petcock which I fixed with RTV (new non-vacuum petcock coming today). In that whole process I had to drain the tank twice which I have to do one more time tonight to put the new petcock in.

So the question I have is why do you guys think it is stalling? Gas got contaminated somehow? Or is it poorly tuned (too rich or too lean)? I didnt check the spark plug yet but will do tonight, probably replace it anyway. I didnt notice fuel leaking from the carbs or air filter, does not smell like gas either.

I may have to bring to the shop if I cant figure it out.

Did your idle speed end up set lower?... At least wait and see what the new petcock does... (don't forget to block off the vacuum tap on the carb when you install)...

That's what I was thinking, maybe some RTV got into it, dissolved by gasoline. ???

Anyway, I'll change the fuel tonight and put in some fresh gas. I'm hoping the manual petcock will help.

When I raised the idle speed it idles fast of course but still wants to stall when coming to a stop, it's like I have to keep reving the engine.

Lucky inside the tank is pretty clean but this bike does not have filter, fuel goes straight from the tank to carb, only filtration happens with the petcock. I guess I could invest in one. I'll also get a spark plug and some stabil or seafoam.

Many times this will dislodge a plugged low speed circuit passage.

Ok, here are my findings. As soon as I drained the tank, I knew it was the gas, the first cup that came out was piss yellow, the RTV stuff I put on was crap and the gas dissolved it. I put the rest of that gas in my car. I put that new raptor petcock on, plugged the vacuum intake on the carb, fresh new gas and half a can of Seafoam in the tank and voila. At least I think it did the trick, took a 20 mins ride around town with stop and go traffic and it seems to run good now. The true test is commuting with it to work, hopefully tomorrow.

You didn't say that the sealer actually got into the fuel stream,
but just as a tip,......if you always put any sealer on the male threads,
never on the female, then it is near impossible for the sealer to get in to the fuel stream.

I guess the sealer never dried and somehow got in the tank. I was wary of putting sealer on anyway but it was a temporary fix until I got the new petcock. Turned out I got the petcock very quickly even though they didnt have it in stock, I guess I should have waited. Lesson learned.

I am trying to be careful and not over tighten but I checked this morning and one of the screw is a little wet, I mean it's not dripping or anything, no spot on the ground but it's just wet with gasoline. Should I go and tighten it some more?
