rl153 Serious Thumper Offline S40 Just right! Posts: 906 Bloomfield,CT Gender:	Battery 09/05/10 at 15:03:35 I put a new big crank battery in this spring. Today when I parked my bike I accidentally left the key on with the motor off for ten minutes . I recharged it and it's ok . Does this do any permanent damage to the battery ? Thanks! It didn't go dead,but took an hour to reach full charge with deltran battery charger jr.

(good thing no one what to steal one!) That's not a problem, just fire it up. If it needed to be charged, that is a problem.

I didn't think to ask before, but do you routinely use the engine stop switch to stop the engine? I think you would be better advised to never use that engine stop switch unless you need it, such as if the throttle were to stick open. Always use the key for engine shutdown, then remove the key and take it with you. That way you can't accidently discharge the battery (unless you do as I did once, and leave it in PARK).

Eschew obfuscation.
