I started to do the seat mod yesterday and got to looking and wondering.
Instead of useing hard rubber supports has anyone ever thought to do or done a mod useing springs instead?
Raise the front 1 1/2 to two inchs then find some springs that would give good support but still allow just a lil bit of bounce(1/2 inch or so).
Maybe even those rubber type springs that go under rideing lawnmower seats.
Youve got the play under the front, solid attachment at the rear. Would'nt be to hard to rig up an attachment on the sides to allow the bolts to move up and down 1/2 an inch or so.
Good stiff foam rubber on top of the rear rubber mount for just a lil bit of give then a couple of rubber stoppers on the frame on the front to keep the seat from compressing the springs 'to far' on big bumps.
Think im going to then farm supply to do a lil looking and 'mind engineering'.

And post some pictures. I gotta do my seat too. Relocating the electric looks like a pregnant dog so I may go with the bluecollarbobbers seat mod, pricey and cookie cutter but safe instructions.

Im not bobbing mine. Going to try and use compression springs in place of the mid-point hard rubber stoppers others have used. Add just a lil bounce to the seat 'like a bobbers' but keep the one piece oem seat. Ill have 2 inchs of play in the front after raiseing the seat.
See if i can save buying a corbin or mustang...lol
'Should work' if i can find the right springs. Got some 2 inchers off an old rideing lawn mower and found some off an old style bicycle seat that may work.
Trick is going to be leaveing enough bounce to it and not so much it strains the plastic seat pan. Metal seat pan would be better.
Got it worked out in my head, just got to do the fab work now.
I figure if i can leave about 1/2 inch of compression before it does bottom out on a hard rubber stopper it should be a palatial ride, nice n comfy.

You mean useing compression springs instead of hard rubber mounts?
Ive seen several versions but none where they have used springs in their place to soften the ride.
Any hard rubber mounts i add will be to keep it from over flexing.
Im not to worried about snapping it, wont be that much play. More interested in makeing a better ride without haveing to go with progressive or sportster shocks.
Should make for a softer ride... if it works.
