Oil leak

Hi folks!
I'm writing to ask about an oil leak in a 2000 LS 650. It's not the jug or the shift shaft, and it's on (or appears to be on) the left side. I didn't want to start pulling covers off without knowing what can of worms I might be opening.
I saw some mention of oil leaks Savages are prone to, but a forum search didn't turn up anything of any help. Can someone tell me the likely failed seal? Thanks!

All leaks will eventually end up on the left side, so you need to look a little closer.

Not including the jug, several places to inspect.
starter o-ring, stator and ignitor wiring into the stator cover, neutral switch wiring in clutch cover, clutch lever entry in clutch cover.

I'd start with a good cleaning, engine degreasor and high pressure washer. Take off the pulley cover to expose the wiring on the stator side. And blast the underside of the starter.

Oil leaks on this bike are no more "prone-to" than on any other motorcycle. Find the source of the leak and fix it.

Oil leaks from the infamous head stud nut cap ended up on the left side on mine, dripping down from the head to cylinder seam when parked on the kick stand. Dripped on the front pulley cover besides being blown back on the battery box and side covers fronts. Look up into the cavity behind the exhaust pipe with a good light and you can watch the "cap" move up and down at idle. Max
