is there anyone here that has any experience with broomstick bars and could let me know of any potential issues on the install, recommended length, hitting tank...ect.

my bars are not exactly broomstick, they have a 22 1/2 degree bend for each grip and control...... it's 29" long but 26" distance between the grips. I also flipped my mirrors down under the grips and if I turn it all the way to the lock, it does hit....... but I love the way it rides like that..... as soo as I get my post count up' I'll figure out how to post pics
