Hello All!  My name is Clint and I live in Newnan, GA about 30 min south of Atlanta.  I am probably supposed to introduce myself somewhere else but I have a few questions that I haven't been able to find answers to from searching.  I picked up a 87 Savage with 18k miles on Craigslist back in May an I have just finished "bobbering" her.  Sorry to all you purists out there.  It seems to me their are some that are against doing that.  I bought the bike as a non runner and fresh gas, a new battery and a good carb clean solved that problem.  She ran great but sat for a few months while I was doing the mods.  Now I have a couple of problems that I need help with.  When I get on the gas kinda hard the clutch slips and then catches up.   It didn't do this before.  I don't have a manual so does the savage have a wet clutch?  She has new oil and filter but I have experienced using the wrong oil on a wet clutch before and had it slip.  Also, I put in LED turn signals on the front and an integrated LEDd turn/brake/tail light on the rear.  I am planning on ordering a LED turn signal relay but right now if the turn signal bulb in the dash is in all turn signals blink when either the left or the right turn is selected.  If I pull the bulb out, all turn signals work properly.  This baffles me but 12v is not my strong suit.  Well, that is enough for now.  I appreciate any help in advance and I will get some pics of my bike up sometime in the next few days.

If you used an oil with friction modifiers in it,, dump it out & start over.

You shouldn't use any oil but motorcycle oil the ones on here that use other oil seem to have cam chain troubles.

Thanks for all the responses!  It don't think its the oil.  I used Valvoline 4 stroke motorcycle oil.  I know I have to adjust the clutch at the bars now, it won't start with the clutch pulled all the way in, I have to let it out 1/2" or so and it has a good bit of play when let out.  I will mess with it this weekend and try to get some pics up too.  Thanks again for the help.

Verslagen- Thanks for the heads up.  The engine has a small oil leak that I am going to address soon, I think I will have to replace the head gasket and possibly the cylinder/base gasket.  When I do I will check out and address the cam chain tensioner. A quick question for you guys- when I replace the gaskets- if the rings are fine you put them back in or would you go ahead and hone the cylinder and replace them since the engine is apart?  Thanks in advance for all your responses.  I have attached a couple of pics of my bike.  I still need to make some sort of side covers for the battery/wiring area.

Thanks Justin.  1. I haven't had any issues with no front fender yet but I am sure it will become an issue at some point.  2.  I have a truck for beer and groceries for now but I do have an old Yamaha for which I am contemplating building a side car.
