This guy has been building a cool custom savage for a while and he put on some sport bike wheels I think.  Check it out..

Looks like gsxr wheels on the first one and early 80s Suzuki wheels on the other 2. What is involved in doing the swap spacers and shims or machine work?  Will the disk bolt up to the 80s wheels?

mine was a direct swap on the wheels and spacers.
the disk needs to be spaced out and cut down.
or swap the whole front end
the front is a gs650 and the rear is a gs550.
soon to swap the gs650 forks and trees.
the tree mates just fine, but you have to do something with the steering lock or it will hit the tank.

Forgot to ask, what is the weight difference in the cast vs spoked wheels.  The older i get the less i like cleaning spokes!!!

you sure the rear isnt from a gs550? I tried the 450 route and it was far far too narrow to be a simple drop in and it was also not (officially) rated to run tubeless.

I had wide rims laced on to my KLX hubs 4.25x17 rear 3.5x17 front, and fitted sticky tires.Would look good on a Savage.

Did you happen to weigh the wheels both the spokes and the cast ones?
