Use the duct tape method before washing.
put duct tape or masking tape all around the inside of the helmet.
Then pull it out. This will remove most of the hair, dandruff and bugs from the inside of your helmet.
It also works as a quick dry clean if you don't wash it out.

Riding in the rain works for me. The windshield squegee at the local gas station is great for bugs on the faceshield, you don't even need to take the helmet off. Grin
