With this heat wave, I won't be too disappointed if I can get the project done in a couple of hours.  I've got a few others things I'm going to do at the same time, too.  Relube the axles - didn't do a good enough job when I changed the tires, pull the passenger foot rests, and depending on how much I end up spending on the performance project, removing the rear-fender rails and installing new turn signals, maybe a new taillight.

No kidding it's f'ing hot!!  I haven't ridden in like almost a week 'cause I'd rather sit inside with the AC cranked.. it's starting to cool off a bit now though tomorrow I think I'll take her out.

I wear a Tee shirt under a long sleeved shirt & I get wet b4 I ride away & carry a sports spray bottle on the bike to rewet my shirts when i start drying out. Makes a huge difference. & I dont care what anyone thinks about how I look, Im the one living this life & when its my turn to die, no ones gonna do THAT for me, so Im not about to let some schmucks opinion ( or have any fear of that opinion) to change how I live it.

Something to consider is the definition of performance. If you define it by something that makes your Savage perform tasks that it couldn't before, thus giving you an excuse to ride on errands (grocery, drug, hardware, convenience store etc) then for my money, a big tank bag, luggage rack or a trunk is an absolute necessity and one of the best performance upgrades you can get.

Is this the one you guys are talking about? How much does it really help, and how?

BTW, says 10 minute install, 2 beer job? Do you shotgun one before you start?? haha Smiley

If you click "Learn More" in the yellow banner on top, it shows an animation of what it does.  I'd love to have one, but a little pricey for me right now.

I bought one and put it on right away so I can't say how much it helps the S40,I had them on 2 other bikes they help,Most of my bikes didn't have them and I never missed them.In fact I went 30 years without them.

I got the Tkat. Works well and is a bit less expensive. I ran the bike 1 year without and installed it for the next season. It made a bike difference. A lot more stable with the fork brace.

I noticed a big difference riding at highway speeds after installing the superbrace.  If you do mostly town riding it may not be worth it, but if you spend a good amount of time over 55mph you may want to consider it.

Oh and it is more like a half a beer install. Wink

After doing some more poking around, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to do the air-filter mod.

I'm leaning towards the fork brace, but am hoping some other people can weigh in - does it make a significant difference on surface roads around town?  Or is mainly a higher-speed thing like wolf says?

My Tkat brace makes handling on grooved road, wander around less.   Very easy install.  I haven't noticed any other differences in handling but I'm kinda new rider.  Looks OK too but not as pretty as Superbrace.  The Tkat is almost half the price.
