Engine swap question
07/10/10 at 20:02:49

Hello all. I have been lurking around here for a while and finally just went ahead and joined.

I have a question about an engine swap. I have found a 2000 frame with title and a parts bike that is a 1987. Can the engine in the 87 go into a 2000 frame? Can other parts fit it as well? Just didn't know how much of the 87 is cross compatable with the 2000 frame.

Any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance

Dan

yes, but use the cdi from the 87 engine with the 87 engine.
you'll also need to replace the connector for the cdi.

Wanna tell the story of how you came to need to? How you gathered up the stuff?

I actually don't have the parts myself. I am looking to get a Savage.

I saw an ad on Craigslist where someone was selling all of the parts mentioned for ~$500 and I didn't know if the parts would be interchanegable or not so I was wondering if this is a good deal.

Thanks,

Dan

only thing I would worry about in buying a bike in pieces is that there might be something missing.  Then when you start buying individual parts to complete it it could get expensive.
