A spark plug is a spark plug is a spark plug. The standard is an NGK DP8EA-9, according to Clymer. The only conceivable benefit from a different plug might possibly be longer life, but even that is debatable.

The thing is, spark plugs are what is known as a mature technology. They have not changed significantly in decades. There are numerous plugs touted as being miraculous, including iridium, split-fire, surface fire, and others. Platinum-tipped spark plugs were used in WWII airplane engines in an attempt to reduce lead fouling from the heavily-leaded aviation gasoline of the time. Unless you are replacing a plug which is so badly fouled or worn as to be misfiring, a new plug will make no measurable difference.

I got that one in there since 5,000 miles, and it still runs strong. No difference to when it was new. It didn't even look any different when I had it out a few hundred miles back, except the fact it has been run.
