After I got back from my 400 mile ride on Friday, we rode to Ron Ayers on Saturday (about 70 miles round trip). My buddy wanted a key for his Valkyrie and we hadn't been anywhere lately.
We had a good ride there and back. Parked the bike that evening and everything was cool.
Monday evening I came rushing through, decided to leave my truck and take the bike. I went and got on, pushed the starter button, the decomp kicked out and that was that. No lights, no horn, no nothing. I was already behind schedule, not what I wanted to have happen. I took off the seat and checked the fuses, they were both good. That was all the time I had, I had to go. I poked my lips out and went back in the truck.
Today when I got home, I went out to see what was the problem. Checked the fuses again, wires under tank and so forth. Everything seemed good. When I put my wrench on the battery connection a little bit of corrosion fell out. That was the problem. The moral of this story is don't over look the obvious.
I was glad to figure this out quickly and was surprised it happened so fast. Mayeb that will help someone else down the road.
