check for loose header bolts or muffler clamp.
if you have something other than the stock muff, it may be just to open to eliminate the pow's.

try fattening up the idle mixture a little. 1/8 turn at a time. If it takes more than a 1/4 turn from a smooth idle setting as instructed by lancer, then your idle speed may need to be set higher.

I have an '88 carb on a '02 engine. 1st shutdown sounded just like a high powered rifle. I had the whole block come out looking, I nearly fell over laughing and would dropped the bike on top of me.

HD sportster muffler w3/8 hole in center baffle ... cone fillter. no pop on shift little pop on deceration / Flames only in pipe nice phoof on shut down if I doin't let it idle for 30+ seconds or so. 58 mpg at 50/55 mph
