right before you change the oil right?  detergent in your oil can deffinately clean out gum and sludge, but don't run your engine like that for long it also brakes down the lubricity of the oil and could cause unnessisary friction and possible damage.

A very interesting point. I'm considering getting a bottle myself after all the great stuff I'm reading...just did an oil change, nothing wrong with my savage, but it's got close to 15k now (4.5k are mine) and figure she could use a little laxative.  get any build-up out Wink

I've been putting 2 oz of seafoam with every fillup .Is that too much? It says 1 oz per gallon of gas on the can .Also Is marvel mystery oil good to put in the gas once in a while,also how much?

I would say once every 2  month would be good for the sea foam.
