Klotz makes both 2 stroke and 4 stroke oil,I use the 4 stroke, some people here think they only make one oil,In the last 2000 miles I haven't used a 1/2 cup of oil.Its worth more than the $10 a quart, cheap insurance.I like the cooler running and extra power you get.

Liqui-moly car dino is making my clutch stick, sux.
And usually anything below $20 for 5 quarts the savage will boil.

Paladin's right:
"We are 1986 technology. (most) straight automobile dino is
just fine.  What matters is change oil every 3,000 miles. "

Personally never had any problems with:

- yamalube
- motul
- rotela t
- mobile 1
- mercedes brand gas/diesel 10-40w
- diesel and marine diesel motor oils I find quite good 4 savage
- never tried amsoil but then again im not into cults either  Tongue

I dont make 3,000 miles before I start seeing an increase in oil consumption. Maybe it has something to do with my riding style, revving it higher in the gears, chopping the oil up, busting the polymeric chains up,, owell,, I decide when to change oil, not based on mileage, but on oil usage. When it starts using oil at an accelerated rate, I change it.

Since I began to use Rot Syn combined with the supermagnet metal removal I know I can go a full year between oil changes and be good oil-wise.   I don't even pick up any increased oil usage between changes.

But since I put in the performance cam I am changing the oil twice a year anyway and putting in a ZDDP booster on top of that, mainly because I know I am abusing my oil a lot and I don't like fixing the engine any more than I have to.

I am also putting together a complete spare engine, so I have one to drop in so I can ride while I fiddle with the other one.

I have pretty much quit hopping the engines up now as my gas mileage really is taking it in the neck due to me being able to run the pure tee snot out of it at will.  Gas mileage counts some too you know and after you get up to very good performance you begin to get satisfied with where you have gotten to.

Getting even more radical might get you up towards the REX stage where your engines stay down a lot of the time.

But still   --   I like it .... like it .... yes I do !!!

Even at 35 mpg for running around town type mileage.

Yup, magnetic drain plugs and other magnet systems are GREAT!
After that you just have to worry about aluminum shavings but they're
softer and will do far less damage, plus the savage filter works well.

I also don't program my oil changes, fresh oil is always a small/smart
investment. I go by color, smell, after looong high speed trips and the
clutch also has a way of telling you when it's time.

I don't put a lot of miles on per year so the standard motorcycle grade 10/40 has done all right by me. I agree with Stimpy that the clutch will tell you long before oil consumption!

Now Bill, your engine is stock and you ride fairly conservatively.

You don't have to do anything extra to your bike or your oil, good old plain jane standard dino oil would likely do for you just dandy.   The fact you use a very fancy racing oil is nice, but is not really needed for the low stress you put on your hardware.

Performance engines running high lift & high duration cams and spinning up to over 6,000 rpm do have stress requirements for oil that your bike really doesn't have.

I meet my increased oil requirements using a high performance synthetic oil.  The high lift cam's maker has elevated ZDDP requirements that I meet with a ZDDP booster to get up to the 1850 ppm of ZDDP that is what is recommended by Webb Cam.

My 8 year old Savage is still fine mechanically and I have posted pics of unblemished internal parts in my cam rebuild Tech post, but no I don't expect to see 30-40,000 miles out of that high performance engine without having to replace the tappets.

(our stock bikes don't always get 50,000 normal miles before consuming a set of tappets either, but don't let that bother you any).

But no, you and your bike will out mile me, I am pretty sure of it.   You could do it with plain old dino oil like Serenity did.

When Verslagen (who does have a high performance modified engine) finds that Klotz fixes his "heat boil" oil usage problems then we will all acknowledge that Klotz is a superior oil that has proven itself.

But until then, it is simply a very expensive racing oil of unproven magical properties.

... and I will likely tease you about it periodically and you will tease me back.

I've never had to replace my fork oil, so I wouldn't know.

Being cheap, I wouldn't mess with it unless it was broken.

Mine have adequate dampening resistance and seem to function OK.

So your forks move up and down with Zero resistance now?
