Yes Verslagen, I know that all us biker types asked Shell to have Rotella syn rated for JASO (because it met and exceeded all the JASO specifications and could be rated thusly)
but it primarily is, was and always will be a diesel formulated oil which makes it "other" for this survey.
Remember, it also meets every other "other than two stroke" engine specification in the world, I mean just look at the jug spec listing fer crying out loud. Is there a spec it misses? (other than energy star which we really don't want)
I think it is "Other" as in simultaneously less expensive and better performing for our particular 1987 vintage designed motorcycle engine than most oils out there.
Not that all the other oils won't work -- I firmly believe all modern non energy star oils will do the job of keeping our stock engine going because it isn't very highly stressed at all in a pure stock configuration.

Now Bill's Klotz oil is definitely "Other" as well because it CAN be used in a two stroke engine -- or in a skeeter fogger style "oil boiling Savage" of which we have more than a few of here on the list.
How is that Klotz working out for you? Does it still boil away a half quart a month like the other oils or is it sticking around better?
You do realize that if Klotz works out better for you we will have to let Bill claim it to be the "Supreme Savage Oil of all oils" don't you?I mean, it covers
all Savages -- even them heavily customized high mileage oil boiler skeeter foggers.
And it doesn't smoke and it smells good while it does it too ....
