Shad S0L64T LS650 luggage rack?
06/04/10 at 18:15:32
Has anyone used the Shad S0L64T LS650 luggage rack? It is supposed to add a large enough luggage rack to use some of the Shad top cases. I'm assuming it is just a luggage rack that bolts to the sissy bar but some of the pictures show rack and sissy bar.

looks like its just the luggage rack but it looks like it should be a quick install.

Shad Spain told Shad US who told the dealer who told me...
They had the LS650 listed in the 2010 catalog in stock in stock but now they can't seem to find one anywhere in europe. The stock shelf is too small so what would be the options? It comes with a detachable baseplate 9" deep by 10" wide.

How much weight would it hold? Adding a top case invites adding lots of "stuff". Plus there's the tail light to consider. I find any luggage in the rear of the bike obscures the tail light too much for my comfort zone.

Shad can't seem to find any Savage racks in Europe so I mounted the baseplate to the Suzuki rack

Looks great!
I'd keep an eye on that Suzuki rack, though. The welds broke on mine.....didn't take too long, either!
Perhaps you're luck will be better!

Yeah, I'm keeping an eye on that. Could it be because the sissybar was cut off? That allows a lot more flex between the two rack mounting points.

I've always had a full sissybar on mine (see signature). The rack failed anyway.

The Luggage rack has two welds on each side. Would it make sense to drill a hole in the side of the luggage rack between the welds and bolt the plates together?

AdMore Lighting Kit on the Top Case

AdMore makes kits for the Givi. They gave me a prototype kit to try on my shad case. The kit supports running light, tail light and turn signals. The lights aren't are nice but not as bright as show in the picture. I took this just after sunrise so the camera set the shutter time just a little too long but you can get the idea what it looks like.
Here's the wiring under the rear seat

Joe,
Interesting idea....however, I trashed my old luggage rack and I cannot tell you if your idea would work.
I do remember that the rack itself was developing cracks in the non-welded areas.
