Seized engine
05/30/10 at 14:51:15

So my buddy's savage seized up, and after a week of the cylinder being soaked in PB Blaster, we were able to free it and do an oil change, however we only got 3/4 quart of oil out, and now after the oil change it'll crank, but won't fire up. Anyone have any ideas? I have spark and fuel. Haven't done a compression test yet.

Sounds good. Any ideas on wher the oil would have gone? There was no visible leak, so that screams internal leak to me and burning off. Where would be a good place to start looking?

it'll run on 3/4 qt but it's pumping a lot of air too.
most likely just boiled off, i have this issue on hot days.
watch your oil level daily and immediately any time your legs can't stand to be next to the hot engine.

The '88 I picked up burnt a piston, but still ran.  search for "i hear you" and 2 similar posts will come up.  mines earlier.  had low compression around 106 psi.  but still ran.
