guys, i was doing for second time the oil leak fix (under the cylinder head) and when all said and done ... the bike does not start. i have the battery freshly charged.
i then noticed gas leak from the air filter compartment. it looks like the carb was sending gas into the air filter chamber.
what is happening? is the carb needdle/pin stuck??
what can i do? the bike wont start (i checked the spark plug, it sparks nicely). i have the two months old gas (kept in plastic jugs) ...
any help would be greatly appreciated!

2 things usually cause the gas in the airbox problem...

1. bad petcock diaphragm, which leaks into the vac line, then into the intake and fortunate for you, out into the airbox.

or
2. bad or stuck float valve, gas fills the bowl and keeps going.

Now, there's another reason to, and I can't quite explain why it happens.  but it's been seen to happen and not entirely unusual.  in an attempt to start it up, gas will sputter out the carb.

bad vac line doesn't cause fuel in the air filter, bad petcock does.

check for gas in that vac line before and after every run for a couple of days.  if you find any, you gotta leak in your diaphragm.

those hoses are bowl vents, they just go up and get tucked into the frame.
