Side Rails Coming off - Sort of!  HELP NEEDED.
05/14/10 at 15:20:35

OK, so I got home on Friday afternoon and started to work on the removal as part of the turn signal process.  I have 7 of the 8 bolts out, HOWEVER, the center bolt on the right side seems to have a rounded off head.  It feels like someone tried to use a wrong size wrench (maybe inch size?).. The 12mm that worked on all the others tries to fit, then spins.  Any suggestions?

Yeah, that's in my plan for tomorrow.  The rain hit the North side of Houston this evening, so I pushed it back into the garage.  I just went out and squirted some Liquid Wrench around it and I'll let it sit over night, and try it again in the morning with the vice grips.

Bummer!  I was so close, but it seems like it never goes a smoothly as you plan. Sad
That's probably why I waited for the week-end. Wink

OK, Siderails and sissybar are off.  Replacement bolt found for the ones that had rounded heads.  New turn signal mount & Saddle bag supports fabricated and painted.  Let all the paint dry over night, and if it stops raining, I'll assemble tomorrow

If it keeps raining tomorrow, I may be too sick to make it to the office on Monday. Wink

Howcome its the last bolt that gets us?

Dont be afraid to stick a bolt in it to keep it stable while you rassle with it.
