Floorboard Project Complete

Finished the floorboards Pictures below.

It really was pretty easy. It was just a small cap over the hex key on the right peg, came out easy. Took about 5-8 minutes to ream out the holes in the new mounts with the Dremmel tool. Only two positions for floor angle. The angle flat worked OK. It probably would have been better for the angle without the forward controls, it makes the ankle angle a little odd.

After install, which took about 45 minutes beginning to end, I took them for a ride. I end up letting my heels hang off the back, and using the rest for the front of my foot. There was a little more vibration in my foot at 55 MPH or over. I came home and cut a piece out of an old inner tube, and slid it in between the two parts of the mount, and it seems to help.

I stopped by an O'Reily auto parts on the way home and picked up a Ford brake/clutch pedal pad for about $5, which fits over the Savage brake pedal so it sort of matches the floorboard.

I may try a different set later, one with more adjustment for angle.

I could think about a set, but I would sure need an angle change w/ 6" forward controls. They would have to tilt back quite a bit.

The brake pedal cover - a rubber FORD brake/clutch pedal. Do you remember what year/model Ford. The local guy at PartsSource here didn't have a clue what would fit, and since its been raining here for a week I really don't want to be slogging thru the local junk yard looking for one (although that is one of my favorite things). Undecided

I did the same boards a couple years ago and you're right, the angle is a bit uncomfortable. At least on 600 mile a day runs. You're going to want to watch out for those original rubber pads. The gluing is pretty hit or miss. I lost one on a hot August day in the south during a rain storm. Expand, contract, water . . .

What I ended up doing was getting a thicker, textured, rubber door mat at a chain hardware store and cutting it to fit the boards. There are some pretty amazing glues out there that will hold them in place. Make them even more secure by drilling a few small holes through the boards for the adhesive to grip at better. The thicker rubber also absorbs more of the high speed vibrations we get from the thumpers and the texture of the new mats are a lot more slip resistant than the original pads.

One guy's experience.

I didn't have a specific model, I measured the pedal and hen looked at the replacement pads hanging on the hooks and chose the one that was the closest to the size.

Didn't save the packaging, Sorry.
