Moved my cone filter this weekend.

I pulled the seat off to look things over, and decided that my nifty cone air filter was about half covered by the bottom of the seat, making it only half as nifty as I thought...

So, I eventually found myself at every Savage owner's favorite parts supplier, the local Ace Hardware.  I bought some 1 1/2 and 2 inch PVC fittings, spent a little time at the lathe making them into shapes their manufacturers never planned, and cobbled up a nice little elbow to get the filter into a better position.

It's nothing many of the members here haven't already done, but those who knew me when I first came aboard might be interested.  Some will remember when I thought a lathe was a mis-spelled coffee drink.  If it has done nothing else for me, this bike has shown me that I can improvise and be creative without burning down the neighborhood.  I love being able to say "I built that, and it still runs anyway." Smiley

Now if the chrome fairy would just leave a toolbox cover under my pillow, the thing might look pretty sharp.
