I agree with this whole heartedly. I thought about (and read the Clymer's ) about adjusting my valves. I deceided to take it to my local dealer. They adjusted my valves and lubricated all of my cables for $54.00. Tax included. I felt that was a pretty good bargain and I know it was done right.
Where I'm located,the local dealer won't touch anything over 10 years old.
I can kind of understand,as I used to work in a garage and some people will invariably come back in a week with a totally unrelated problem and expect a free repair because "You worked on it last,and it wasn't doing this before!"
My answer was always "Well,everything works til it breaks,doesn't it?"
That said,I do my own work anyway,so that leaves me no one to yell at when something goes wrong!
I'm just about to discover the joys of petcock repair,as mine crapped on the way to work this morning!Oh well,at least I can work on it here.
