Just remember, the clutch is a lot easier to replace than the head.

i know there has been info on here before stating that the idle should be set to about 1200, am i correct? i dont have a tch so i really have no way of telling but i have mine set humming pretty quick and strong to a speed that seems to minimize backfire the most. does that make sense? anyone got a trick for setting idle without a tach or is it just feel? what are the downfalls to a - too low/toohigh idle? sorry not trying to hijack this thread

keep in mind, i am a mechanical idiot (but getting better thanks to you guys). will poor shifting damage your head cylinder? and how? seems like the transmission would be the first super costly victim. Huh

I was saying that keeping the speed under control idling along in 1st is better to use the clutch than to lower the idle speed. Drop the oil pressure & wrech a head.
