I have a 96 and it had the stock exhaust on it that had been "drilled out" by the previous owner - i thought it sounded like a bell ringing but i suppose a chirp would be about the same - i put a jardine slip on it now it growls (evil big single) vs chirping (whimpy whimpy whimpy)......problem solved.
