question for any experienced wrenchers out there
04/19/10 at 22:32:48
So I have a question. I installed the Mikuni VM roundslide 34 in my bike ands runs well. The only issue I have is right off the throttle it bogs down some. Worst when cold, mild when warm. I know there are accelerator pump called "powerpumps" which replace the float and increase fuel pressure and decreases bogging. I have not found anything for the VM roundslide. Any comments or suggestions?

Did you check to be sure the float level is correct ?
Also, what needle jet and jet needle does it have installed ?
Many of these carbs were used on racing bikes, some 2 strokes, and they change the jet and needle for a MUCH RICHER MIX, and that will totally screw up the mix for a stock LS650 engine.
You can go to the Sudco website and look up the stock needle and jet #'s for the 34 VM. I have it in the dealers book but it is in the garage and I don't have it with me right now.
I found it, I did download the catalong before and forgot I had for a minute there.
needle jet: 159 Q-2
jet needle: 6DH4
sllide: 2.5
air jet: 2.0
float height: 22-24mm
main jet: try a 180
pilot jet: try 17.5 or maybe 20 ... you can go down to a #15 if you need to
