Mpg. Test run
04/18/10 at 17:55:01

Just came back from a somewhat long ride. Bike was awesome. Avg. speed was 65 mph. My fuel mileage was great, 54 mpg.

I have the Jardine Rumbler, Stage 1 Dyno Jet kit and K&N air filter.
While cruising in 5th @ 65mph, I rolled on the throttle and that's when I really wanted another gear. Oh well.

Had lots of fun.

I assume you mean a gear higher than 5th gear.
Curious, what would you expect to gain by running a higher gear ?
If you have a tach, what is the Rs at 65 ?

I'm still unclear what Suzuki accomplished with that 5th gear.  I get 55 mpg at 65 mph and around 51 mpg at 70-75 mph.  That's with a four speed.  Kay has the five speed, and doesn't seem to do any better on fuel when we ride together.

wow, i just did 100 miles today and got 70 mpg! and thats running 80+ mph, full open throttle at times. i have a cone air filter, open harley exhaust and 153.8 main. i can tell its got no guts in the low, so i'll be getting a 50 pilot jet tomorrow; no fiddling with the spacer yet.
there must be some variable effecting it like topping it off more on the second fill up, otherwise i got the most efficient savage out there  Cheesy

I once got 63 mpg running about 50-55 mph behind Kay.  That was my record.  It's never happened since.

I get 60-65 mpg all the time, going anywhere between 50 - 70 mph, going to miss those numbers when I get my S 50 on Tuesday

I regularly get 58 mpg on my commute loop (about 80% surface streets/20% highway) on a stock '06 S40.  I did have 1 tank of 67 mpg but that was a long ride on country roads averaging 55 mph or less.

I regularly got over 60 mpg with my windshield on.  I took it off and I never did better than 55 mpg.  That really surprised me.
