Wow, I bought my bike on March 30th last year.  Got my learners before I got the bike, so I was able to ride right away, but took the MSP on Easter weekend (lucked into cancellations).  So I've been riding a year now too!  Congratulations to us all!

about the same for me, had a learner's permit but had no motorcycle licensed riders to follow me so I learned in a parking lot. I've learned a lot. so happy to have this site and my motorcycle  Cheesy

In Texas, you have to have a licensed rider with you while you have your learner's permit??  WV doesn't have that rule.  Anybody else have that?

Took the MSF course the week before Thanksgiving last year, got my license Thanksgiving week, and bought my 97 Savage Monday of the week after Thanksgiving.  Just under 2000 miles since then.  Love it!!

they have to be within visible range of you, ie: behind you in a car, or I guess on the street watching you ride by?? mmm, yeah, I'm the only rider in my group of friends that I woulda felt comfortable enough asking to ride behind me, now I have a friend at work I could probably ask

Have been riding 3 years this Mothers Day weekend. Got my first bike 50 cc scooter. Got my permit and then did the MSF course and got endorsement. Then got my Rebel and rode and learned on that for almost 2 years before getting my S-40 last July...

I will ride again and in the mean time I am enjoying reading all of your posts.. Keep riding and enjoying the wind in your face..

Here in  Wa State on permit, no night riding, no passenger. Permit good for 90 days and renewable once..

I like to think that, but every time I have a close call w/ a dear (4 legged) I have to wonder. They are thick on the back hill roads I like to ride here. But I also like riding 40-50 mph, so that helps.

Here in Or, I think it has to be a motorcycle w/ licensed rider w/ you on a permit, which is what I had in Sept when I got my riders license. I never took a course (expensive) just went straight to DMV, and they set a course just for me, including 2 fire extinguishers ! When I questioned that, he said they have had to use them several times over the years,......crashes right out on the parking lot !

I took the course almost a year before I got my bike, I failed, wrecked on the test,(front brake and swerving equals OUCH) I had done that right everytime until the test, I hated the class, so I just left. the class is very very very useful and everyone should take it, so after 7 or 8 months of thinking about motorcycling again and again and letting my hand heal a bit, my finger was bent back a good bit and not strong enough to open a soda bottle. I got a motorcycle and went to DMV/DPS (in texas its the dept of public safety that gives you a licenses) to get permint for a license, rode in a parking lot until I felt better on it. went to DMV/DPS go license, for the license you just need someone with a car to drive the DMV /DPS person around.  I'm glad I took the class cause the dps/dmv test was way way too easy
