Is there a difference between Savage and S40?

The reason I ask is because bikebandit lists both under year model 2006. So did Suzuki offer both that year or was that the switchover year...?
Thanks. Nice site here too BTW. Just a few specific forums which makes it very easy to navigate.

Welcome aboard crab.
Nop, not much really, just the badging, colors and minor cosmetic
details; they also stole the sissy but gave us a new exciting passing
light switch.
...oh, and the price

Why did you guys tell me that the s40 went to a 5 speed, added a kickstand switch, and drops the headlight while starting ? Now is that true or isn't it ?
And I thought you told me the s40 started in 2004, or thereabouts.

'95 went to a 5 speed, US version, don't know about EU.

'87 the kickstand switch no longer operates the light on the tank.
~'04 flashers and headlight out while starting. Also re-badged as S40.

2004 was the last model year for the "Savage" designation and 2005 was the first year the LS650 was re-badged as the "S40" ...
