ok so i took my head cover off to do the head cap replacement and there is no rubber plug there! there is a metal recces where the plug was supposed to be it is deep enough for the plug to fit in but that just doesnt make much sense to me to put a plug in a place just to fill a hole that appears to already be sealed. I am confused. there is no rubber plug in there anywhere. help please!!!

ok so yeah i'm an idiot hahahahah. that was the plug. i didnt expect it to look like that. it was full of oil though.

an idiot would have stuck the plug somewhere else and put it all back together,... and then asked...

Just for posterity's' sake, here is what the old-style plug looks like (the plug in the photos is used, and has some residual copper-colored gasket sealant on it):
