Break light troubles
03/27/10 at 14:28:45

I have a 98 savage. It is running great, however, I am having some issues with my break light...

When I have the key turned to accessory, the break light works. When I turn the key to on and crank the engine, the break light won't work. The blinkers and head light work when the key is turned to either accessory or run.

Does anyone know how to fix this or know what is causing it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bobby

1st bob, hi, welcome to the club.
This is all from a stock point of view...
there isn't an accessory position on the ig switch
off-on-park
there's a link to an owner's manual in the tech doc's, read up.
In park, only thing that will light up is the tail light running lamp.
If you can light your brake lamp in park, you got a wiring problem.
When you have it in run, either the front brake lever or the rear brake pedal should operate the brake light.
Check your light bulb first.  Should have 2 filaments.

Thanks.

And yeah, I mean to put park. I have always called it accessory (just shows my ignorance!). I have 2 savages. 1 2001 stock, and one 98 bobber project..

Thanks for the adcice.

Had a similar problem with mine (see signature).

Put a new front brake switch on there....end of problem.
